AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN TEST

How does your Lucky Dog become a Canine Good Citizen: The CGC program is designed to recognize dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. It stresses responsible dog ownership for owners and basic training and good manners for dogs. You can attend a basic training or CGC class to teach your dog the CGC behaviors (i.e. walking on a loose leash, coming when called, accepting a friendly stranger) or if you have the skills and knowledge, you can teach your dog the CGC skills. Dogs who pass the 10 step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club
AKC S.T.A.R. PUPPY
Requirements: Puppies must be under 1 year old. Only in connection with our 8 week Puppy Class.
What is a STAR Puppy: This is an exciting new incentive program for loving dog owners who have taken the time to take their puppies through a basic training class. It can be viewed as a “pre” canine good citizen test, but is much more informal and will be “tested” during regular classes. A “S.T.A.R.” (Socialization, Training, Activity, Responsibility) Puppy will be listed in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy database and receive a neat “puppy package” (containing – among other things – a medal and a certificate) upon sending in their completed test form to the AKC.
